Patriots Equal Best Winning Streak From Brady Era with Win Against Jets
First-year player TreVeyon Henderson has tallied five TDs during the current campaign
The New England Patriots tied their longest winning run since the Tom Brady period as they defeated division rivals the New York Jets 27-14 in the NFL
First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson led the way with three TDs as the Patriots secured an eight-game winning streak for the first time since iconic QB Tom Brady's closing campaign with the franchise in 2019
Quarterback Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a touchdown, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
The win bolsters the Patriots advantage at the top of the division as they moved to a 9-2 record, with the New York at the foot after falling to two wins and eight losses
The visitors had scored first at Gillette Stadium with QB Justin Fields rushing for a short rushing score to finish the Jets' initial series
But the home team fought back in the second quarter as the rookie rushed for two seven-yard TDs before the running back grabbed a reception from Maye at the back of the end zone midway through the third quarter to push the score to 21-7
"It was a key occasion for him rising to the challenge, and it's been great for him to keep earning playing time," the quarterback commented on Henderson. "He desires to be outstanding."
Fields found John Metchie in the latter part of the third period to close the gap for the visitors but Andy Borregales converted a two field goals in the final period as the Patriots wrapped up the triumph
