Charli XCX Embraces a Twisted Persona of Herself in Satirical Film Preview

The celebrated musician is preparing for a substantial film presence in 2026, beginning with the fictional documentary titled The Moment.

In the film, she plays what she calls as a dark version of her public image.

It’s the most authentic portrayal of the entertainment world that I’ve ever seen, the performer stated.

She further explained in an interview: It’s far from a live performance documentary, but the idea originated from the demand to make one.

A Sneak Peek into The Project

The initial preview, unveiled on this week, combines authentic footage from her recent tour with made-up backstage scenes.

The mockumentary is overseen and co-authored by the director, who explained that the narrative centers on a reality where the artist opted for alternate decisions during the promotion of her smash hit album Brat.

A Packed Film Calendar

The mockumentary is just one of numerous future movie projects for the musician, who has appeared in three independent movies in the current year.

Next year will also include the artist with Olivia Wilde in erotic drama I Want Your Sex, Natalie Portman in creative industry mystery The Gallerist, and Barbie Ferreira in scary reboot Faces of Death.

She also signed on to feature in Dakota Johnson’s maiden directing project A Tree in Blue.

I’m thoroughly loving my foray into acting, Charli stated. I feel very, very inspired right now in acting, and I solely aim to pursue roles that stimulate me.

February will also include the debut of the filmmaker’s adaptation of Wuthering Heights, which will include fresh tracks from the singer.

Additionally, she will create the soundtrack for the drama Mother Mary, with Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel, set to be released in the coming year.

The mockumentary will be released on January 30.
